Greenhouse light pollution, or nocturnal lights, is causing unintended consequences in the Leamington community. Now, more than ever, it is important to protect and restore the nighttime environment, as unwanted light impacts human health, the environment and wildlife populations locally.
Lower Detroit River IBA Count Update: 2019 to 2020
In 2020, waterfowl counts were conducted on Jan. 25, Feb. 8 and Feb. 29. Total numbers for canvasback were 6,015 on Jan. 25, 4,760 on Feb. 8 and 7,770 on Feb. 29. Over one per cent of the global population of canvasback was seen on Feb. 29 in the Lower Detroit Important Bird Area.
